Researchers as changemakers.

Societies progress by conducting research, generating knowledge, and solving their problems. Low-income countries - classified by the World Bank as having less than an annual income of 1,085 USD per person - have about 9% of the world’s population but produce less than 0.5% of the research. There are many reasons for this; but we focus on the lack of support for early-career researchers.

Similarly, the average life expectancy in low-income countries in 64 years. Maternal mortality is 460 per 100,000 and under-five mortality is 68 per 1000 births.  Medicine and technology alone cannot end this tragedy. We believe that clever combinations of medicine, health technologies, behavioral economics and statistics can maximise the impact on public health in these countries.

We support early-career researchers from low-income countries who are working at the interface of medicine, technology, behavioral economics and public health by making grants to develop, conduct and publish their studies.
